Introduction:
Katyayani Devi- a manifestation of Sri Lakshmi-ji
appeared as the daughter of rishi Katyayani and did penance for the purpose of
getting Krishna as her husband. Her name means daughter of Sage Katyayani.
Golden colored, she sits astride a lion and manifests three eyes and four arms.
In two of her hands she holds a weapon and a lotus and with the other two she
blesses and protects.
Special benediction: Kaatyayani devi is very
protective and grants boons(vardaan) and fulfills wishes–especially relating to
gain the association of the Divine–Shri Krishna. A yellow light of
satisfaction emanates from her eyes and spreading into the eyes of people.
Sixth Day-Mata Katyayni
To destroy Mahishasura, Mata Parvati took the form of Mata
Katyayani. It was the most violent form of Mata Parvati. In this form Mata Parvati is known as Warrior Goddess.
Meaning: In Sanskrit, Shail means The Mountain.Thats why Shailputri is known as the daughter of the mountain(Himalayas).
Navratri:In Navratri,She is worshipped on the Sixth day of Navratri.
Representation: She is depicted with four hands.She carries lotus flower and sword in her two left hands and keeps her right hands in Abhaya and Varada mudra.
